The Trade Council of Denmark in China warned all Danish companies of taking orders too good to be true from unknown Chinese companies.
The Trade Council of Denmark in China is increasingly getting inquiries from Danish companies receiving large orders from Chinese companies with highly beneficial payment terms. In many of such cases the Chinese companies are fake and orders are never executed.
The typical pattern in cases of fake requests:
1. The Chinese company contacts the Danish company
2. The Chinese company places a huge order with the Danish company without specific product specifications
3. The Danish company sends an offer to the Chinese company
4. The Chinese company accepts the offer immediately
5. The Chinese company invites the Danish company to China to sign the contract as soon as possible
6. Payment conditions: 30% upon signing of contract or 70% at delivery
7. Upon the signing of the contract the Chinese company asks the Danish company to invite a big group for an expensive dinner
8. Upon the signing of the contract the Chinese company asks the Danish company to buy huge and expensive gifts or to give cash to the managers in the company.
9. The order is never executed
If you suspect that you have been contacted by a fake Chinese company, D&C can assist in the following ways:
- We can make a phone call to the Chinese company, asking different relevant questions. We will then make our own judgement of whether or not you are dealing with a fake firm.
- We can visit the Chinese company and make a report. (this assistance is subject to a fee).
